Waterford is a parliamentary constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency elects 4 deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs). The method of election is the single transferable vote form of proportional representation (PR-STV).

History and boundaries[]

The constituency was created for the 1923 general election to the 4th Dáil, partially replacing the Waterford–Tipperary East constituency that was used for elections to previous Dáil. The Electoral (Amendment) Act 2009 defines the constituency boundaries as:

"The county of Waterford, except the part thereof which is comprised in the constituency of Tipperary South;
and the city of Waterford."
